The Black Prince By Michael Jones. 4 out of 5
Read by Chris, June 2020
I’ve been wanting to read this book for a long time and finally got round to it.
The black prince as a subject, is hopelessly under taught so it’s nice to get a dedicated book on him. with Edward of Woodstock taking part in two of the most important battles in Anglo-french history and his untimely death as the two book ends, Jones paints a vivid picture of the chivalrous knight who deserved so much to be king but, it was not meant to be.
I enjoyed reading about Edward’s relationship with his father, Edward III and how was respected throughout Christian Europe as the finest knight of his age. Would have enjoyed more on his relationship with his brother John of Gaunt but I guess I should read a JoG biography for that.
